Ever been in a helpless situation where you can do nothing but applaud your enemy or your counterpart, who’s at loggerheads with you? Congress is exactly in that position nowadays, thanks to an unprecedented scene in the Lok Sabha. It all happened when UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, made a gesture that was quite surprising.
During the question hour in Lok house, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari took up two questions, in which he gave a detailed explanation of some of the road infrastructure projects in progress. As Gadkari finished speaking, a party member from Madhya Pradesh, Ganesh Singh, asked speaker Sumitra Mahajan that the house should appreciate Mr. Gadkari’s work. On cue, Sonia Gandhi, started thumping the desk, which is a sign of appreciation. Soon Kharge and other Congress party members joined in. This might come as a pleasant surprise to many, but such is Gadkari’s work that even the opposition parties couldn’t stop praising him.
The happy incident in the Upper House proves that even though the Congress party and BJP are at loggerheads with each other, the opposition party still cannot deny the infrastructural progress that the country has witnessed in the ruling government’s tenure.
